No, I have not disappeared or forgotten about this page. I just have not had anything to write about the past couple weeks. I like to keep the posts on this page to being more than just random banter that I am thinking at the time. As I do have a ton of random thoughts going on in my head at all time. While it is a blog I have never really seen this page as a blog. I’ve always seen it more of a collection of my own tips, and ideas on how to cope with certain things in life. Each post has always been thought provoking on my part, and serious in nature.

The downside to that being I don’t always have a new article, or post, every day, and in some cases a few weeks. I do appologize for that but I believe in quality over quantity.

I do, however, posts random questions and quotes on the Facebook page on a more frequent basis as it allows me to ask others some of the things I think about and ask what others think on it. It is a great tool to allow random things that don’t necessarily fit into the website here.

So if you don’t see something fresh here don’t forget to check the Facebook page for something new and don’t hesitate to join in on the fun and discussions to share your thoughts and ideas. I do read all the posts and ideas and like to engage in the conversations as well. It’s a great tool for interacting with others. I know Twitter can be the same thing but I do not use Twitter that often. I use the Facebook page more than twitter.

Earth and Sunset

With the end of the year quickly approaching I thought it would be a good time to give a state of the union address for this website/blog. Where I can talk about what the website is about and where I am going with the website. This website was started in 2010. I created this site to help others break free of old habits, leanings, and teachings that no longer serve our highest good. Such as the belief that we need to continue to suffer in our lives or that we are unworthy of happiness.

There was another reason something I only talked on briefly and is in the name of this website. That is the inner self. The term that is the most used key words in coming to this site. I briefly touch on the inner self here.

The main goal of this website was to bring people together, to wake people up. In my travels and in the stuff that I read I am always seeing people divided. They are divided by their beliefs; they are divided by who they are.  The two biggest things that divide people are hate and fear. They are fearful of what they do not know about someone and they are taught to hate them.  I wish for people to be united through love. While we may live in different areas around the world and believe different things we are all connected. We are all one living out separate lives while connected to each other.

A good night's sleep

Image: David Castillo Dominici / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

As I said in the blog post, a good nights sleep, sleep is very important to our well being and our health. Lack of sleep can start to create a lot of issues with our health, from being cranky and irritable, to being more prone to getting sick. Lack of proper sleep can slow our metabolism and slow our healing down when we are sick.

There are many things you can do to help you get the sleep you need at night and this is a list of the things I have found to be the most successful for me in falling asleep.

Depressed man with anxiety

Image: David Castillo Dominici / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

One of the worst things that I have had the pleasure or displeasure of facing in my life was anxiety. Anxiety can be a crippling thing that can keep us from enjoying our life. In extreme cases anxiety can lead to us not leaving our houses.

For me I would get anxious around my health. For me foods can travel through me and want to go out of my very quickly where I need to find a bathroom as quick as humanly possible.  There are some days where humanly possible is not quick enough.

This is where the anxiety would start to happen. Can I go out? Will I be able to make it to the bathroom? Will I get there fast enough?  Should I eat before hand? Should I eat there or should I wait to eat until I get home. There would be the thoughts that would be traveling through my mind before I end did anything. Just the idea of going someplace would create these thoughts.  After these thoughts are starting in my head the next train of thoughts are the deadly “what ifs.”  What if I can’t find a bathroom? What if I get sick? What if I don’t make it? What if? What if?

Man flying a kite

Why does past failure prevent you from trying again?

It has more power over you that way. You succumb to it more when you fail, and your past failures start to establish dominance over you to you get to the point that you quit before you start. You don’t question, you don’t try again. You just sulk, or hide, or do nothing. It wins more then you trying, and perhaps gaining more confidence in keeping you from trying again.

If you go out and speak in front of a large crowd while doing it you get so nervous that you make a fool of yourself, and then vow to never do it again. Your ego wins in this situation as it has control over you. It has claimed victory in you that you failed, and that there is no reason to try again.

Now had you failed and then thought, ok, I know what I did wrong. I can correct those mistakes and do it again. You are gaining your own inner power. You are gaining control. The past failure has no power, and will be helpless in you trying again.

How do you deprogram your mind?

That is easy, you “let go.”  Doing it, is a whole lot trickier. Our minds are parts of our brain, and our consciousness. Our minds use examples, and experiences from our everyday life. Things that we have read, or done, or learned, get stored in our minds to be used again whenever the situation, or circumstances are the same.

“Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”: FDR’s First Inaugural Address

fears

Are fears OK to have? Are some fears not OK to have?

Sometimes fear can be a good thing as it can tell you that you are not in a good situation at the time. There is something present or coming at you which could be dangerous for you and you should seek a safer route as it may be the best course of action for you for your safety and well being.

When fear overpowers you and prevents you from doing something is when the fear needs to be addressed. When you start to live your life in fear unable to actually live your life this fear is becoming a block to you enjoying your life. This fear is controlling you. When you get to this stage is when you need to work on removing the fear so you can get back to enjoying your life. How you address it can vary from person to person.

If you are afraid of something how do you deal with it?

The most common way to address the fear is to attack it head on so to speak. Facing your fears is what most people will say when dealing with fear. It is not easy to face your fears.  If it was not that big of a deal then those events, people, circumstances, would not be fears but would be a regular event.

Man Sleeping

Image: graur codrin / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

It is said that on average we need roughly eight hours a day of sleep. Many of us are lucky if we get four hours a night. For me that is not enough. For myself I need at least eight hours of sleep to function properly. There is also the oversleeping that can be a nuisance. Where you are looking for that magic number of how much sleep without too much sleep or you wake up exhausted in the morning. Unless I am really tired I usually do not sleep past ten hours at a dedicated sleep time. I also try not to sleep past ten in the mornings. I found that the later I sleep in the later I am up at night. I find it harder to try and sleep earlier when I sleep in too late.

Last night while sleeping I made an observation with my sleeping. I noticed that while I do dedicate eight hours of sleep a night. My sleep is not a straight eight hours of sleep. My sleeping breaks up into intervals. I sleep roughly two to three hours of each interval before waking where I usually get up to go to the bathroom before I am back to sleep for another interval before repeating the cycle until I am finally up in the morning.

Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced. – James Baldwin

lotus flower

Just because someone else may have it worse does not mean you don’t have a claim to what you are facing as being legit. Perhaps to someone else it may be nothing but to you it is something. Since to you it is something that means it has value as well.

One of the things I have heard others say when they talk about how they are feeling or what is going on in their life when they are having a hard time is that there are others that have it worse. What they are going through is nothing compared to what someone else is. Really though who is to say who has it worse? Is it our decision? Is it some “God’s” decision? Does that mean that we should be silent about what we are going through and just “suck it up?”

No, it does not. Whether someone may or may not have it worse does not lesson what we are going through because we are facing what we are facing and it is just as legit as what someone else is going through.

Like attracts like. Whatever the conscious mind thinks and believes. The subconscious identically creates.  ~ Brian Adams (from ‘How To Succeed’) ~

Our thoughts are powerful things. Our thoughts can be tools to make our life great or they can be tools to make our life miserable.  The choice of how we use our thoughts is up to us.  Our thoughts create the reality that is upon us.

When we hold our thoughts on an idea or belief we create that thought in our life as a reality. If we think we are not good enough. Our reality will be that we are not good enough. Our thoughts will then spiral out farther than that into us feeling that it is true to others.

This then creates a negative image of us which then creates a negative mindset. When you hold onto the thoughts long enough as your reality they become automatic thoughts that we become unaware that we are thinking them. If you set something into your mind on a constant basis it will eventually become habitual to the point that you do not even realize or make the association anymore.
